Our founder was the child who wouldn't read - then spent nine years teaching children just like him. What he learned: reluctant readers aren't waiting to be fixed. They're waiting for a story that grabs them.
A child who abandons a boring book isn't failing at reading - the book failed at being chosen. So we deal in missions, not slogs. Get the story right, and the stamina follows.
For Schools
Rigour your English lead will recognise.
Reception to Year 6, ages 5 to 11: phonics missions from Reception to Year 2, CHAMP comprehension quizzes from Year 1, and branching stories from Year 2 up.
Register free - enrolled children read free during school hours. AgentChamp turns reading itself into the game: choose-your-path secret-agent stories where careful reading genuinely changes what happens next.
Built on comprehension skills
Quizzed through the six CHAMP skills, with rewards that only follow real comprehension.

01
Levelled library
Every book is levelled by Book Band and year group, so AgentChamp slots into how you already teach reading.
02
CHAMP quizzes
Every story ends in a quiz of up to six questions - one per CHAMP skill - and Champ Coins only unlock at 60% or better. Children can reopen their exact route mid-quiz - we assess comprehension, never memory.
03
Champion Words
Champion Words hidden in every story reward close reading, and every word is clickable for a child-friendly definition.
04
Audio + highlighting
All stories carry audio narration with synchronised text highlighting.
Built on the National Curriculum
Every quiz question belongs to a KS2 reading content domain, delivered through our six CHAMP skills - between them covering all eight domains, 2a to 2h.
Every CHAMP carries one reading skill and the National Curriculum content domain it is assessed under, so a quiz result maps straight onto the domains your English lead already reports against.
| CHAMP | Reading skill | Content domain |
|---|---|---|
| Captain Connect | Connections | Inference & comparisons · 2d, 2h |
| Hunter the Hound | Retrieval | Retrieval · 2b |
| Annie Analysis | Analysis | Explaining meaning · 2f, 2g |
| Max Morse | Vocabulary | Vocabulary · 2a |
| Penelope Predict | Prediction | Prediction · 2e |
| Summary Steve | Summarising | Summarising · 2c |
New to the content domains? Read our guide to 2a-2h, written for teachers.
And you can see it, per domain: Class Trends breaks first-try success down by CHAMP skill across the whole class - so "retrieval is strong, inference needs a push" is a glance at the dashboard, not a marking session.
Class Trends is part of the Stats Package, an optional add-on your school can buy separately once you have created your free school account.
STATS PACKAGE

Progress you can see
Class rosters, generated PINs, printable logins and parent letters are free for every school. The full progress view - words found, quizzes passed, endings discovered for every child - comes with the Stats Package, an optional whole-school add-on you can buy once your free school account exists.
STATS PACKAGE

Bespoke stories on demand
Pick a year group and a theme, and AgentChamp's AI agent builds a bespoke story with full branching choices, audio narration and CHAMP quizzes - then assign it to your whole class. Dinosaur-obsessed Year 4 or space-mad Year 6 - meet them exactly where their interests are.
Story generation is part of Story Maker, an optional teacher subscription you can buy from inside your account once your school has set it up.

Beyond the adventure library

Complete stories under 2,000 words with a full CHAMP debrief - sized for a guided-reading slot, an early finisher or a single sitting.

Decodable, single-path sound-it-out missions shelved by phonics phase and Book Band - so early readers get provision that matches how they are taught to read, before the branching library takes over.
Built for every reader

The reading area is fully adjustable: light, dark and dyslexia-friendly themes, background and text colours, fonts including OpenDyslexic, text sizing, audio speed and read-aloud highlight colours - saved as each child's own theme. Small adjustments open independent reading to more children, including SEND readers.
Beyond the school day
Families can unlock evenings, weekends and holidays on the same account - same stories, same coins, same progress.
For you, that means home reading finally stops being invisible: what starts in your classroom carries on at the kitchen table - on the same account, with the same progress.
For Parents & TutorsFree, always: the full levelled library during school hours, CHAMP quizzes, Champion Words, audio narration, and every class-admin tool. Two optional add-ons, both bought separately once your free school account exists: the Stats Package - one price, whole school, every teacher and every class - opens the class dashboard and Class Trends analytics. Story Maker unlocks bespoke story generation for individual teachers, bought from inside their own account. Children's reading is never paywalled during school hours.
Reception to Year 6. Phonics Champ covers Reception to Year 2 with decodable, single-path sound-it-out missions from the earliest phonics phases. CHAMP comprehension quizzes start in Year 1, and the branching library runs from Year 2 to Year 6.
A web browser. AgentChamp runs on laptops, desktops, tablets and Chromebooks - nothing to install.
Register, add your classes, and AgentChamp generates a login and PIN for every pupil - with printable login slips and parent letters from the class dashboard.
No. Every pupil gets a generated username and PIN - no email, no personal sign-up, nothing for children to manage.
An optional school add-on, bought separately once your free school account exists and unlocked by your school admin, that opens class-level analytics: the class dashboard and Class Trends, with whole-class CHAMP skill breakdowns, debrief pass rates and words read over time for the children you teach. One price covers the whole school - every teacher and every class.
Story Maker is an optional teacher subscription, bought from inside the account your school created for you, and it costs less than family pricing on every tier. Pick a year group, theme and voice, and AgentChamp generates a bespoke branching story - with audio narration and CHAMP quizzes - for you to review before it goes live on your class's shelf.
Library stories are generated, then levelled by Book Band and reviewed before publication. Bespoke stories go to you first - nothing reaches your class shelf until you've reviewed and approved it.
Not yet - MIS and CSV import are in development. For now, adding pupils is manual but quick, and AgentChamp generates every login and PIN for you.
The reading area is fully adjustable - light, dark and dyslexia-friendly themes, fonts including OpenDyslexic, text sizing, audio narration with synchronised highlighting and read-aloud colours - saved as each child's own theme.
Your school archives pupils or whole classes when they move on. An archived account is kept while a family subscription is live - that is a service the family is paying for, and we review it at every renewal. Once the subscription ends, or if there was never one, the account and its reading data are deleted twelve months later. Every period we hold data for is in the retention schedule below. Nothing is ever sold or used for advertising, before or after.
Yes. Pupil data is stored in Google Cloud's UK data centre (London, europe-west2), is never sold, is never used for advertising, and is never used to train AI. We are registered with the ICO (ZC230270). The privacy policy, data processing agreement, sub-processor inventory, security measures and a DPIA support pack written for your DPO are all published at /compliance - read them before you talk to us, not after.
We keep children's data for as long as we need it and no longer, and we tell you what that means in days. Billing records are the exception - the law makes us keep those, and the table says so.
| What | How long | When the clock starts |
|---|---|---|
| Pupil account and reading data, once archived | 12 months | The later of the archive date and the end of the family subscription. While a family subscription is live the account is kept - we review that at every renewal - and the 12 months start when it ends. |
| Pupil accounts with no school and no paying family | 365 days of inactivity | The last sign-in, or the date the account was created if the child never signed in. |
| Staff and parent accounts | Not deleted on a timer | A removal request - yours or the account holder’s. We never delete an adult account for going quiet: a teacher who was off for a year would lose their class, and a school could lose the only account that administers it. Your school admin removes staff, and any adult can ask us to remove their own account; either way it is switched off at once and permanently erased 90 days later, as in the row below. |
| Anything deleted - by you, or by the sweeps above | 90 days, then erased for good | The deletion itself. The account is switched off immediately and can be restored during those 90 days; after that it is gone and cannot be brought back. |
| Billing and contract records | 6 years | The end of the financial year the payment or contract falls in. This one is not ours to shorten - UK tax and company-records law requires six years. (Seven years is the US rule, not the UK one.) These are invoices, payments and contract terms - no reading data, no quiz answers, nothing a child produced. |
A parent or your school can ask us to delete a child's account sooner, and we will. Nothing in this table is ever sold or used for advertising.
AgentChamp keeps you signed in and remembers your reading settings using cookies and browser storage. What we store, in full.
